Innespace’s Seabreacher killer whale submarine has been around for at least a decade, but many have wondered where you can actually buy one of these things. Well, Hammacher Schlemmer, the same store that is offering this $190,000 flying hovercraft, has this semi-submersible for $90,000 USD. This two-person watercraft can breach and submerges just like a real-life Orcinus orca, while its pilot is protected beneath its watertight 1/2″-thick acrylic canopy.
There are twin control levers that are used to articulate the whale’s pectoral fins for rolls and dives, while steering is handled using dual foot pedals. These pedals control the vectored thrust of the Seabreacher’s 255-hp supercharged Rotax axial flow engine. At maximum power, it can hydroplane up to 50 mph over the water’s surface and cruise at 25 mph while submerged. For added safety, the dorsal fin’s integrated snorkel ensures air supply to the engine up to a depth of 5-feet. More information here.
