Slow Mo Guys Popping Bubble Inside
Gavin Free and Daniel Gruchy of The Slow Mo Guys have photographed some bizarre things in super slow motion, but this is the first time they’ve captured what bursting a bubble from the inside looks like. To create a bubble large enough to film, they used a mixture of distilled water, detergent, and glycerin to attract moisture for longer-lasting giant bubbles. Next, Phantom TMX cameras were set up to record all of the action.

A Phantom TMX 7510, which as a 75 Gigapixel throughput capable of 76,000 FPS at a full 1Mpx resolution, was used to capture the popping action at 50,000 FPS. The TMX 7510 is also the world’s first high-speed camera to utilize back side illumination, which allowed Vision Research engineers to develop a custom sensor capable of incredible speeds without sacrificing the image quality that Phantom cameras are known for.
