Before the first-generation iPhone, there was the Sony CLIE PEG-NX80V, a handheld computer that runs Palm OS 5.0. The device made its way into stores in May 2003, priced at a hefty $600 USD ($1,028 in 2024).
Unlike previous models, the PEG-NX80V is compatible with not only Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro media, but also CompactFlash cards from select manufacturers. Other features on this 8-ounce device include a 480 x 320 screen, a 200MHz Intel XScale PXA263 ARM CPU, 32MB of RAM, 16MB of ROM, a 1.3MP camera, a miniature QWERTY keypad, and a rechargeable lithium battery good for over 3-hours of continuous use.
