Sony Project Defiant Wireless Fight Stick
Fighting game fans rejoice! Sony’s Project Defiant, a wireless fight stick for PlayStation 5 and PC, slated for a 2026 knockout, is the company’s first foray into competitive gaming gear.

Built with precision, Project Defiant sports a custom digital stick, snappy mechanical buttons, and a DualSense-inspired touchpad that screams Sony polish. Customization is the name of the game here, with toolless restrictor gates—square, circle, or octagon—that let you tweak the joystick’s feel to match your vibe. “Project Defiant features a high-quality digital stick that’s custom designed by Sony Interactive Entertainment,” says Edwin Foo, Vice President of Product Development at Sony, and it’s clear they’re not messing around.

Connectivity is where Project Defiant lands its uppercut. PlayStation Link tech delivers wireless performance so responsive your inputs hit like lightning, crucial for those make-or-break moments in a tournament. If you’re paranoid about even a hint of lag, there’s a wired USB-C option for PS5 and PC. “Players will be able to nail all of their input timing with the benefit of our innovative PS Link wireless technology,” Foo says, doubling down on Sony’s obsession with speed. You can even wake your PS5 remotely by holding the PS button.

Designed for marathon sessions, this stick’s ergonomic build keeps you comfy whether you’re duking it out at home or throwing down at Evo. It’s tough as nails, with a handy storage nook for the restrictor gates and PS Link USB adapter, plus a sleek sling case with a joystick-friendly gap for easy travel. No detail’s too small for Sony’s team.

Looks-wise, it’s pure PS5 style, rocking that black-and-white aesthetic. The joystick sits on the left black side, while six buttons—Square, Triangle, R1, L1, X, Circle, R2, and L2—line up on the right white half, feeling right at home for PlayStation diehards. The DualSense-style touchpad is a nice touch for menu navigation or in-game shortcuts. No word on the final name or price yet, but Push Square’s betting on $200-$250, putting it in the ring with premium sticks like the Razer Kitsune.

Street cred comes from Mark Julio, Evo’s Business Development Director and a fighting game legend. “The team worked really hard on this one. Please look forward to it,” he tweeted, and when Julio’s hyped, you know it’s legit. Fans are already buzzing with anticipation.

Sony’s keeping the full reveal under wraps for now, but Project Defiant’s shaping up to be a stylish, high-octane addition to any gamer’s setup. Come 2026, this fight stick’s ready to throw down and dominate the scene.
