Space Perspective has revealed the first images of its Spaceship Neptune capsule ahead of its test flight, which will be unmanned to collect data for their production version capable of transporting tourists to the edge of space.

Neptune aims to become the most accessible, sustainable, and safest spacecraft in the commercial sector. When launches begin, the capsule will remain attached to a high-altitude balloon during the entire flight, thus eliminating the need to transfer the crewed compartment mid-flight like the SpaceX Dragon. The 6+ hour journey will take the capsule to 100,000 feet above the Earth, or an apogee free of 99% of the Earth’s atmosphere. So far, the company has sold more than 1,650 tickets at $125,000 USD each.

The entire company is predicated on this insight from astronauts that seeing Earth from the blackness of space changes you in a profound way. After returning from missions, many astronauts report having a fire inside them to do something about the state of the world. They tend to get involved in environmental issues and societal causes,” said Jane Poynter, Space Perspective CEO.
