Pedro Pascal’s bounty hunter is back and this time he’s got the wide screen to frame every dusty boot print as well as every wide-eyed stare from his pint-sized sidekick. The first trailer for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu pulls you right back into that rough stretch of the galaxy where the Empire’s shadow lingers just long enough to keep things tense.
Five years after Endor, the New Republic is scrambling to hold onto the peace the Rebellion bled for. Din Djarin, the stoic Mandalorian who’s seen more double-crosses than most men have sunrises, gets pulled into the mix with Grogu—the force-sensitive child who’s become his unexpected family. Their latest job? Hunting down the scattered Imperial warlords who won’t fade quietly into the stars.
- Build a detailed LEGO Star Wars display model of The Mandalorian’s helmet and pay tribute to the legendary bounty hunter
- Capture the sheen and replicate iconic features of Mando’s helmet and proudly display it on the brick-built stand with nameplate
- Drum-lacquered LEGO bricks in different shades of grey help you to recreate the metallic look of beskar armor and the contours of the helmet
Dave Filoni, the steady hand behind most of the Star Wars history, co-writes the script and directs the film which was originally conceived by Jon Favreau for the Disney+ series. After years of developing these characters in under an hour long episodes, Favreau has described the jump to the big screen as an exciting experience. He co-produces with Filoni who brings his expertise from directing The Clone Wars and Kathleen Kennedy, CEO of Lucasfilm. When Ludwig Göransson returns to score the film, his percussion and strings give you that sense of awe and grit.

You’re immediately back in the world’s worn edges as the opening sound of the Razor Crest’s hum cuts through the clouds. Cut to Grogu and Djarin crouching behind a sand dune and gazing out into the horizon. Then comes the action: speeder bikes kicking up sand in a high-speed chase after AT-AT walkers plodding across a frozen plain with their legs bursting through the ice. Djarin quickly dispatches one in a hail of snow and sparks, demonstrating once more why he is a walking legend thanks to his Beskar armor.

Grogu steals every frame he’s in, from batting away a scurrying pest with a flick of the Force to his very first words: “Good shot, baby.” He even reaches out with his tiny hand during a quiet exchange, trying to levitate a snack right out of Sigourney Weaver’s grasp. Her character, a Rebel Alliance colonel with the poise of someone who’s stared down TIE fighters more times than she can count, just raises an eyebrow and holds firm. Jeremy Allen White steps in as Rotta the Hutt, heir to the slug-like crime lord from the original saga. Jonny Coyne rounds out the threats as an Imperial warlord, his face etched with the bitterness of a regime on its last legs.

Filming wrapped earlier this year, locking in a May 22, 2026 release that lands right in the sweet spot for summer escapes. Disney and Lucasfilm have kept the plot’s deeper turns under wraps, but the footage suggests a self-contained tale that builds on the series without demanding a full rewatch marathon. We’ve been waiting for the cinematic boom of a lightsaber hum since the end of the Skywalker saga in 2019 and this film delivers.
