James Marksbury filmed footage of himself in a harness at the very top of New York’s Chrysler building carrying out maintenance. This experienced steeplejack from Cole NYC, which is basically a person who climbs tall structures to carry out repairs, routinely inspects skyscrapers all over New York City, whether it be flagpoles, steeples, or just anywhere where climbing gear is required to access. For this particular job, Marksbury and his team was required to inspect steel panels atop the building down to the 72nd floor. Safety equipment used include a belay rope fall-arrest system, similar to those used by rock climbers, attached to the ladders as they are erected to eliminate solo climbing and greatly reduce the risk of falls from height.
