Stratolaunch successfully completed a powered flight of its TA-1 test vehicle. Engineers were able to accomplish a safe air-launch release of the Talon-A test vehicle, engine ignition, acceleration, sustained climb in altitude, and a controlled water landing.
Not only did Stratolaunch meet all primary and customer objectives of the flight, they managed to reach high supersonic speeds approaching Mach 5 while collecting a vast amount of data. What’s next? Reviewing data from this test and using it to plan their next steps toward TA-2’s first hypersonic flight later this year.
