Super Mario 64 Speedrun 1-Star Run World Record
Suigi, a Super Mario 64 speedrunner, managed to complete a 1-star run of the entire game in 6:58.35, beating his own previous world record of 7:03.57. For those unfamiliar with speedrunning in Super Mario 64, the 1-Star route is one of the fastest for beating the game, making use of a Backwards Long Jump hyperspeed method to access the Bowser stages early.

Want to try and set your own Super Mario 64 speedrunning record? If so, completing the game with 0 stars requires a precise, speed-dependent Side Backwards Long Jump (SBLJ) where Mario uses the gap in between two stairs to rapidly cancel long jumps and get the Backwards Long Jump 9BLJ) speed building effect. If you’re new to running this game, it is recommended to learn 16 Star before attempting these two expert categories.

This is the first truly mistakeless WR I’ve ever seen in Mario 64. Will be very hard for someone to find the motivation to try and beat him. People will continue competing for a while, but it would take inhuman luck in addition to perfect execution to beat this time. I wouldn’t be surprised if this record stands forever,” said one fan.
