The final installment of the “Avengers” franchise is coming, and it’s officially called “Avengers: Endgame”. The first trailer starts off with Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr., adrift in space, before we see Thanos’ armor and the supervillain himself, as Black Widow says that the villain did “exactly what he said he was going to do” — wiping out half of all life on Earth. It’s true, The Lion King is getting a live-action reboot, and it’s directed by Jon Favreau. Thisphotorealistic computer-animated remake of Disney’s traditionally animated 1994 film of the same name features the voices of Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Billy Eichner, John Oliver, Keegan-Michael Key, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, and James Earl Jones. Principal photography began the summer of 2017 on a blue screen stage in Los Angeles, and the film is scheduled for an official release on July 19, 2019. Peter Jackson may be known for bringing JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings to the big screen, but he decided to leave fantasy behind for his latest project, titled “They Shall Not Grow Old”. It’s a World War I documentary, complete with color and digitally enhanced sound. The filmmaker sourced archival footage from The Imperial War Museum, used the original audio from BBC and the voices of war veterans. “Many hours of dramatic footage were filmed on the battlefields, capturing the realities of the conflict in remarkable and unprecedented detail. This footage provided the public at home with astonishing access to the frontline: The Battle of the Somme, a documentary film produced with the cooperation of the War Office, was seen by an estimated 20 million Britons in its first six weeks of release,” said The Imperial War Museum. Yes, it’s true, the first-ever live-action Pokémon adventure, titled “Pokemon: Detective Pikachu” is set to hit theathers in 2019. The film stars Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu, and showcases a variety of beloved Pokémon characters, each with its own unique abilities and personality. “The story begins when ace private eye Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry’s former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself,” according to the synopsis. Steven Spielberg has entered the world of virtual reality in his adaptation of Ernest Cline’s “Ready Player One,” and the director unveiled the movie’s first trailer at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend. This sci-fi movie takes viewers into a dystopian 2045 where the only escape from the dark reality is the virtual reality world of “OASIS.” It’s set for release on March 30, 2018. Slated for release on December 15th, Star Wars: The Last Jedi feature new cast members Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern, and Kelly Marie Tran in unconfirmed roles. According to director Rian Johnson, the story begins immediately after the last scene of The Force Awakens. He had his story group watch films such as Twelve O’Clock High, The Bridge on the River Kwai, Gunga Din, Three Outlaw Samurai, Sahara, and Letter Never Sent for inspiration while developing ideas.
