Takara Tomy debuts two new Transformers robots that are disguised as Canon DSLR cameras, the EOS R5 to be more specific. This mirrorless camera may fool some, as it not only has a detachable lens, but also a removable lens cap as well. You’ll be able to choose from the Optimus Prime R5 and Decepticon Refraktor R5 when they are released in February, 2023.
Priced at around $149 USD, these two Transformers are expected to go quick and will most likely command a hefty premium on the reseller market. If you’re wondering why the Refraktor model looks familiar, that’s because the character was the first Transformers to be modeled after a real camera back in 1984, one of whom accompanied Megatron aboard the Decepticon’s space cruiser. This is right up there with the Casio G-Shock x Transformers Master Nemesis Prime Watch in terms of cool factor.
