
Terrafugia has started taking orders for its Transition flying car, and deliveries will start in 2019. Just to recap, it’s capable of running on normal petrol, can hit a max speed of 100 mph in the air and has a cruising range of 400 miles. It transitions into car mode in less than a minute at the press of a few buttons and is capable of driving at highway speeds. That’s not all, the company recently unveiled the TF-2, which is basically a flying minivan with a detachable pod configuration for passengers or cargo. “Terrafugia says it has logged hundreds of hours of flying time in its various prototypes. Despite all of this, it remains unclear just how popular the Transition will prove to be. While flying cars were all the rage in science fiction films and books a few decades ago, the usefulness of them is very much up in the air. It also seems likely that the Transition will prove severely compromised as a road car, undermining the entire point of having a flying car,” reports Car Scoops.
