Tesla Model Y 4680 Battery Pack Teardown
Munro & Associates wanted to see the Tesla Model Y 4680 battery pack up-close, do what better way than by peeling back its lid? That’s exactly what they did in their latest teardown video, but what they discovered was battery cells coated in a mysterious pink adhesive hiding how they are actually arranged. Fortunately, there is a solution to dissolve this substance.

Unfortunately, they have not yet revealed what is required to dissolve this adhesive, although we expect their next episode in this series to show us. The 4680 was first introduced by Tesla back in 2020 as a high energy capacity cell for use in EVs. It was also presented by JAC/Volkswagen in a joint-development venture with CBAK in early 2021, with manufacturers including Panasonic and LG. Elon Musk has already taken us inside Starbase, so why not one of his battery manufacturing plants too?

No products found.

No problem to recycle the 4680 pack. Just think of any battery pack as super high-grade ore – it is always better to start with high-grade ore than low grade!,” said Elon Musk on Twitter.
