French banker Albert Kahn decided that black and white photos did not do Paris justice. So, he set out on color photo series in 1909 by first commissioning four photographers – Leon Gimpel, Stephane Passet, Georges Chevalier, and Auguste Leon – to use Autochrome Lumiere to document it in all its glory.
