Remote-controlled planes can be much more than the palm-sized toys you find at toys stores and hobby shops. They could be as large and powerful as the jet turbine-powered creation above. Continue reading to see five of the coolest remote-controlled airplanes ever.

1. B-29 with X-1 Rocket

While this remote-controlled B-29 with an X-1 rocket might be on the large side, it has no troubles maneuvering the skies, thanks to its incredibly skilled operator. Unfortunately, this one-off creation is not for sale.

2. Jet Plane

Whether it be the afterburners or jet turbines, this remote-controlled jet most certainly is one of the fastest ones we’ve ever seen…on YouTube at least. Despite its incredible speed, the jet safely lands.

3. Concorde

In the aviation world, the “Aerospatiale-BAC Concorde is a turbojet-powered supersonic passenger airliner, a supersonic transport (SST).” However, the remote-controlled version is just as impressive, albeit much smaller sized.

4. SR-71 Blackbird

First flown on December 22nd, 1964, the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird “is an advanced, long range, Mach 3+ strategic reconnaissance aircraft developed from the Lockheed A-12 and YF-12 aircraft by the Lockheed Skunk Works as a Black project.” Here’s an incredible mini version that can be safely controlled from the ground.

5. 366MPH Jet Plane

Created by YouTube user “jetsinhd”, this jet plane is powered by a single Jetcat P160 SE turbine and capable of achieving speeds in excess of 350MPH.
