In addition to the Land Cruiser ROX, the Toyota 4Runner TRD Surf Concept also debuted at SEMA 2024. This vehicle was inspired by Southern California’s vibrant surf culture and features a 3D-printed, removable top that perfectly mirrors both sides of the body, thus creating a perfect fit.
The removable top was designed to be easily removed by a single person, providing the open-air freedom synonymous with the 4Runner legacy. Power comes from turbocharged iForce 2.4L engine generating 278 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Other upgrades include a long-travel suspension system consisting of billet aluminum front upper / lower A-arms that are designed to handle the toughest terrain while providing a smooth ride, custom front axles, and a Toyota Tundra rear-end housing.

The 2025 4Runner reminded me of the original, with its rugged look and powerhouse 4cyl engine. I knew it had the potential to be the ultimate beach cruiser. We wanted to create something that would resonate today while paying homage to the past. The removable top was a must, just like the original, and we made sure it’s as functional as it is stylish,” said Marty Schwerter, lead builder and Director of Operations at Toyota’s Motorsports Technical Center.
