Toyota e-RACER
The Toyota e-RACER, introduced by CEO Akio Toyoda himself at the Tokyo Motor Show, gives us a first look at the future of smart sports cars. This two-seat, open-air racer was designed to prove that a future with autonomous cars will still have room for driving enthusiasts. One mode requires you to wear specialized digital glasses that give you real-life experience of a racing course of their choosing, including an underwater track. Yes, there’s still room for a single passenger whom can sit directly behind the driver and this person can also join in on the same augmented reality experience using a screen or headset mounted on the back of the roll bar. Style wise, the vehicle boasts a two-tone design and wheels that are completely separate from the main body. There’s no word yet on if we’ll see a functional prototype in the near future, but the idea is intriguing nonetheless.
