Unihertz, the not so well known underdog of the smartphone world, has a habit of building devices that feel like they belong in a survivalist’s toolkit rather than a tech showcase. Their latest device, the Tank 4 Pro, is no exception.
Tipping the scales at 530 grams and measuring 174.3 x 85.4 x 23.9 mm, the Tank 4 Pro is a brick of a phone, but it’s bulky with purpose. Its IP68 rating means it can easily handle dust, water, and even a tumble.

Don’t let its bulkiness fool you, it still has a 6.73-inch AMOLED display with a crisp 3200 x 1440 resolution and a silky 120Hz refresh rate. With the iPhone 17 launch looming, we can only hope that even the base models get a Pro Motion display, otherwise Apple will be left in the dust by companies like Unihertz, or at least screen wise.

But the real showstopper is the built-in 720p DLP projector pumping out 100 lumens of brightness. This isn’t just a gimmick to sell more devices, as it’s got laser-assisted autofocus and keystone correction for crisp visuals.
Powering this machine is a 3.35GHz octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor, which doesn’t push the envelope in terms of performance, but gets the job done. To ensure smooth operation, you get up to 18GB of LPDDR5x RAM as well as up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. You won’t have to break the bank either, since the 16GB / 512GB will only set you back around $650, or $700 for the top-of-the-line 18GB / 1TB variant.
Mobile photographers will appreciate the Tank 4 Pro’s quad-camera system, led by a 50MP Samsung S5KGN1SP main sensor (1/1.3-inch) that snaps crisp photos even when the light’s fading. Its 64MP night vision camera, backed by four infrared LEDs, is a game-changer, letting you shoot in total darkness with a visibility range stretching beyond 15 meters. A 50MP telephoto lens and 32MP front camera round out the package.
The 11,600mAh battery is a monster, designed for days of off-grid use. With 120W fast charging, it can hit full capacity in under an hour, though you’ll want to conserve power by dimming the display or avoiding prolonged projector use. Dual camping lights and red/blue warning lights add utility for nighttime adventures or emergencies, while the phone doubles as a power bank via OTG functionality.
Unihertz didn’t skimp on connectivity either. The Tank 4 Pro supports Wi-Fi 6, dual SIM, and 5G NR networks with download speeds up to 2.34Gbps. This rugged phone works with GSM, CDMA, and LTE bands, though U.S. buyers should double-check carrier compatibility—T-Mobile and Verizon get a clear thumbs-up. Navigation is spot-on thanks to support for GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, and Galileo, while NFC makes tap-to-pay a breeze.
