Paris in June hums with innovation during Vivatech 2025, and this year, a peculiar vehicle steals the spotlight. AEMotion’s Dual, a four-wheeled micro EV, zips through the city’s narrow streets, tilting like a motorcycle yet promising the safety of a car. This prototype has been a decade in the making, and designed to turn heads.

AEMotion, a French company founded in 2014, set out to bridge the gap between two-wheeled agility and four-wheeled stability. The Dual merges a tilting chassis with a slim, two-passenger cabin. Measuring 235 cm long, 79 cm wide, and 171 cm tall, this 230kg vehicle is most certainly compact enough to weave through Parisian traffic. “With more than 80% of the added value provided in France, this vehicle is manufactured at the heart of Europe,” AEMotion notes.

The Dual’s tilting mechanism allows a lean of over 35 degrees during turns. Controlled via a handlebar, this system mimics the dynamics of a two-wheeled bike, letting drivers shift their weight to balance the vehicle. AEMotion’s engineers drew inspiration from concepts like Toyota’s 2013 i-ROAD, but the Dual goes further with four wheels for added stability. “The angle is naturally managed by the pilot, using a handlebar with the same dynamics as a 2-wheeler,” the company explains.

Powering this lean machine is an electric drivetrain derived from motorcycle tech, delivering instant torque for quick acceleration. The Dual tops out at 115 km/h, while battery options include a swappable pack offering 70 km of range, and a fixed long-range battery that stretches to 200 km per charge.

The Dual’s enclosed cabin offers protection from rain and minor impacts, while its four wheels prevent the catastrophic falls that plague two-wheelers. AEMotion claims the vehicle is “designed to be easily repaired,” with robust sub-assemblies fixable at authorized garages.

Driving the Dual doesn’t demand a full car license. You only need a standard B license plus seven hours of training in France, thus lowering the barrier for adoption. One caveat: the vehicle can only seat two adults.
