Epic Games has just released Unreal Engine 5.2 Preview with a new in-editor and runtime Procedural Content Generation Framework (PCG) that enables creators to define rules and parameters to populate large scenes with UE assets of your choice. This makes creating large worlds faster and more efficient than ever.
It also features a Substrate system for authoring materials that give Unreal Engine users more control over the look and feel of objects used in real-time applications including games and linear content creation. During the State of Unreal 2023 keynote yesterday, Epic Games showcased Electric Dreams, a real-time tech demo showcasing new features and updates coming as part of the 5.2 Preview release. Featuring a photorealistic Rivian R1T electric pickup truck tackling a forest of sorts densely populated with trees and lush vegetation built with Quixel Megascans.
