Volkswagen has given the 1962 Type 2 11-window Microbus a futuristic makeover, and calls it the Type 20 concept, which combines vintage looks with modern tecnhology. For starters, there’s a Conversational Digital Assistant, which consists of directional microphones spanning three zones within the vehicle and harnessing voice command capabilities. Want to step inside? Simply use biometric identification, complete with a real-time facial recognition system with a wide-angle camera on the driver’s side second window. Powering the EV is a 10-kwh battery pack, a 2.5-kw onboard charger, and a motor system for a combined output of 120 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque, making it a perfect city vehicle. The technology doesn’t stop there, as its infotainment system sports a Looking Glass II display integrated into the dashboard which enables one to view 3D images without wearing special glasses.
