We have seen the future of augmented reality, and it includes this interactive climbing wall. By utilizing a smart projector, the “Augmented Climbing Wall” transforms bouldering into a range of different puzzles, challenges and exercise games, like the Climball (Pong) example above. Other activities include: Whack-A-Bat (Whack-A-Mole), Sparks, where climbers are required to stay within a boundary that moves around the wall, and Astromania, in which players save the world from blazing fireballs. “The Augmented Climbing Wall was developed by Aalto University Game Research, Finland. There are now over 100 installations in more than 35 countries. As well as ‘exergames’, the wall can offer practical help on your bouldering. Climbers can set themselves a challenge by plotting a route, perhaps using holds that they might not ordinarily aim for,” reports Red Bull.
