Eckert’s Rod & Custom has built the world’s first and only Ford Mustang Mach 40, which combines the classic 1969 Mustang Mach 1 design with the modern performance of a 2006 GT40, First, the team at Hardison Metal Shaping created the body, based on design sketches, and then Eckert installed a 4L Wipple on a mid-mounted 5.4L Flex Fuel V8. “The low-slung vehicle measures just 43 inches (109 cm) tall, which is a little higher than the original GT40 that inspired its creation. But that’s still marginally lower than the heights of the newer Ford GTs. It’s a feat made possible only by moving the engine to the back,” according to Car Scoops.
