It’s no smart hummingbird feeder, but the Whistle speaker by industrial designer Eunsu Lee does offer a somewhat more relaxing way to wake up in the mornings. The speaker comes with a detachable base that doubles as a battery and a companion smartphone app lets users easily set alarms.
Each speaker has a ‘beak’, which is actually the Action button and used to turn the device on / off or for pairing. Swing around back, and you’ll find volume buttons as well as a reset button in case you need to pair a new device. Three built-in speakers aim to offer a more rich stereo sound. As for the Branch accessory, it acts as an LED light with a knob up top that lets users control brightness, while power is supplied via USB-C.
- WIRELESS BLUETOOTH STREAMING: Wirelessly connect up to 2 smartphones or tablets to the speaker and take turns enjoying powerful sound.
- UP TO 20 HOURS OF PLAYTIME: Built-in rechargeable Li-ion 7500mAH battery supports up to 20 hours of playtime and charges your device via USB port
- IPX7 WATERPROOF: Take Charge 4 to the beach or the pool without worrying about spills or even submersion in water

I once experienced a service where I wake up to the sound of birds singing while staying at a hotel during a trip to Singapore. Until then, we had been waking up to the sound of [a] smartphone alarm, but the experience of waking up from sleep to the sound of birds singing remained as a new and pleasant memory,” said the designer.
