The BMW 328 Hommage was first unveiled back in 2011 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the original. It’s an ultra-lightweight sports car that weighs in at just 1,720 pounds, thanks to the use of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic, all powered by a 3.0L 6-cylinder engine. Unfortunately, it remained just a concept, but one extremely talented BMW fan decided to recreate this vehicle using wood.
First, custom stencils for the body needed to be made before cutting the pieces of wood and assembling them using glue. The base, wheels, fascias, grilles, and BMW badge were then cut using material from discarded trees. Everything is made by hand, with the exception of a few power tools only when absolutely necessary. Yes, there’s even a functional steering held together with strong bearings and shafts. Instead of the petrol engine, this one relies on a battery for power.
