‘ROADOG’ is unofficially the world’s biggest motorcycle, measuring 17-feet-long (5.2 meters) and weighing in at a hefty 3,200 pounds (1,452 kilograms). The bike was initially built in 1965 by William Gelbke and then went on to put over 20,000 miles on the bike over 12-months by touring the United States.
Power comes from a Chevy II-sourced 2,507cc four-cylinder engine, mated to PowerGlide transmission. Other modifications include a Chevy truck differential, Corvette disc brakes, and dual four hydraulic rams—two fore to keep ROADOG upright when parked. After the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, Iowa closed last month, Sean of Bikes and Beards acquired the motorcycle to restore it to its former glory. In the end, ROADOG not only ran perfectly, but Sean, as well as Matt Walksler, were able to go for a short ride.
