In addition to cars with auto-pilot, there may be autonomous motorcycle delivery services being completed by robots such as Yamaha’s Motobot. Absolutely no human input is required, though we’d imagine being able to set a path or objective is possible. “This is an autonomous motorcycle-riding humanoid robot built around a fusion of Yamaha’s motorcycle and robotics technology. R&D is currently underway with the goal of developing the robot to ride an unmodified motorcycle on a racetrack at more than 200 km/h. The task of controlling the complex motions of a motorcycle at high speeds requires a variety of control systems that must function with a high degree of accuracy,” said a Yamaha representative. “We don’t know yet if Motobot can turn the bike around, but seeing it doing north of 100 km/h (62 mph) with ease really feels glorious. Yamaha says that Motobot will be able to ride the R1M well enough and perform all the maneuvers a rider usually makes while riding,” reports Auto Evolution.
