YouTuber RyderCalmDown turned his pickup truck into a giant dot matrix printer, one that prints using water rather than ink or paint. The system consists of a series of solenoids connected to a pump controlled by a Raspberry Pi board to precisely time the water when printing letters.
An algorithm is used to convert the text into a pattern the printer can use for the actual dot matrix printing process, which took a little while to figure out, but everything worked out in the end. The only issue was figuring out what words and messages to print for this demo video. One thing is for sure, MIT’s mobile vaccine printer will save many more lives in the future.
