Industrial designer Andrea Mangone’s minimalist 0/1 foldable smartphone concept doubles as a clock for your nightstand and aims to be a digital detox device of sorts. There are two usage modes: smartphone when open and minimalist smart device when closed. The former opens to reveal a 1080 x 2640 pixel flexible display, ideal for gaming, social media, or just watching a movie.
When 0/1 is closed, an E-ink display shows only a limited amount of information in a non-distracting way. This outer display can be customized with various widgets including analog / digital clocks, a daily checklist, calendar, reminders, music player, movie showtimes and more. If you want to turn off all notifications and truly disconnect from the digital world, simply place 0/1 in an upright position, similar to a nightstand clock.

We spend an average of 3 hours per day on our smartphones. Throughout the day we are constantly bombarded by notifications, emails, direct messages, that keep interrupting our activities and distract us from what really matters. As smartphone addiction has become a recognized problem worldwide, a series of ‘minimal phones’ have emerged on the market promising to give us a break from the digital world,” said Andrea Mangone.
