A box of never-before-seen negatives has been preserved in a block of ice in Antarctica for the past 100-years. These negatives are reportedly from the Ernest Shackleton Ross Sea Party (1914-1917), a group that was stranded in the hut during a blizzard when their ship blew out to sea. All crew members were eventually rescued, but the box remained buried until now. A Wellington-based photography conservator carefully processed the delicate negatives in order to reveal the beauty of each frame. Click here to view the first image in this week’s FAILS gallery.
