Nintendo Switch Christmas Ornament
Inventor Scott Bez wanted to brighten up his Christmas tree, but in a geeky kind of way. So, he created a somewhat functional Nintendo Switch ornament. Unfortunately (or fortunately), it can’t play real games, although the ornament is capable of running animated GIFs from an SD card on its 1.14-inch LCD panel.

Despite only being able to run animated GIFs, it still requires a custom PCB to run everything. This meant firing up KiCAD, a free software suite for electronic design automation. A LilyGo ESP32 module is the brain of everything, while WiFi could mean wirelessly transmitting things to the display in the future. The final step was the cram everything into a 3D-printed case and then add some finishing touches with paint.
