Long before AI cameras, there was the Agfa ePhoto CL30. This digital camera from 1999 was the first to have a built-in Clik! drive from Iomega, or palm-sized 40MB discs used to store photos. Each disc is smaller than a standard 3.5-inch floppy disk, but actually transferring the photos to a PC required PhotoWise software or a USB connection.
The digital camera itself features a 1.8-inch color LCD on the back with an ‘on’ and ‘off’ switch to extend battery life, which comes from four AA-sized alkaline batteries. Its EasyPilot button was innovative at the time, as it is basically a powerful, multi-function control that works like a computer mouse. You can use it to scroll through menus as well as for point and click selection control. One caveat: it retailed for $549 USD ($1,007.37 in 2023).
- Fast and accurate Dual Pixel CMOS AF with eye detection AF
- High-image quality with 24.1 Megapixel CMOS (APS-C) sensor.
- 4K video and 4K time-lapse movie along with vertical video

The ePhoto CL30 Clik! camera is as easy to use as popular floppy-based models. The Clik! disk’s 40MB capacity eliminates the hassle of viewing multiple images one floppy at a time. By simply connecting to your PC via the USB port, all of your images can be viewed and edited immediately,” said David Henry, Former VP and GM of magnetic product management, Iomega Corporation.
