Mercedes-AMG GT XX Electric Hypercar
Mercedes-AMG just revealed a monster that might make even die-hard petrolheads rethink their stance. The Concept AMG GT XX, a 1,341-horsepower electric hypercar, fuses Formula 1-grade tech with a design that looks like it zoomed out of TRON: Ares. This four-door sedan, a sneak peek at AMG’s first production EV slated for 2026, isn’t here to play nice with the Porsche Taycan or Lucid Air Sapphire—it’s out to crush them.

The GT XX’s juice comes from three axial-flux electric motors, nabbed from Mercedes’ buyout of Yasa. One up front, two in the back, they pump out over 1,341 horsepower, hitting a top speed past 223 mph and blasting to 62 mph in under 2.5 seconds—numbers that hang with the wildest hypercars. These motors, just 3.1 inches wide at the rear and 3.5 up front, pair with a 114-kWh oil-cooled battery built for track endurance, not just quick bursts.

Aerodynamics shape the GT XX’s sleek form, nailing a drag coefficient of 0.198, nipping at the Lucid Air’s 0.197. Active aero is everywhere—AIRPANEL louvers behind the front bumper, a Venturi-effect diffuser cranking out downforce. The 21-inch forged aluminum wheels sport a world-first: active aero blades that open to cool brakes during hard driving and close for slicker straightaways. Each wheel’s actuator, powered by a mini-generator using the wheel’s spin, talks via Bluetooth and stores enough juice for 200 blade shifts. “These actuators keep brake cooling on point,” Mercedes-Benz USA says.

Inside, the GT XX feels like a racecar cockpit dressed up as a luxe sedan. A 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster and a 14-inch infotainment screen dominate, while an AMG One-inspired steering wheel brings motorsport grit. Carbon-fiber bucket seats, tailored via 3D printing, are wrapped in silky yarn recycled from GT3 race tires—one tire covers the whole cabin. The center console, with glowing orange tubes mimicking voltage cables, adds a dramatic vibe.

Charging is where the GT XX flexes hard. Its 800-volt setup and 850-kW fast-charging can add nearly 250 miles of range in five minutes—compare that to the 2025 Mercedes EQE’s 32-minute 10-to-80-percent slog. The AMG.EA platform’s battery, with Sila Nanotechnologies’ direct-cooled cylindrical cells, promises durability and consistent performance. Range isn’t fully spilled but tops 300 miles, plenty for a hypercar.

The exterior is a knockout, blending aggression with class. Painted in sunset beam orange, a nod to the Mercedes C111, it rocks a low hood, a sharply angled windshield, and a fastback shape with no rear window, echoing the Polestar 4. The AMG grille, concave with a central star, sits between vertical LED headlights and rectangular auxiliary lights. Hood air outlets and a front splitter with air curtains keep cooling tight, while a wide carbon-fiber rear diffuser boosts stability. MBUX Fluid Light Paint on the sills glows to show charging status, mixing tech with style.

What makes the GT XX special isn’t just its stats—though 1,341 horsepower is no joke. External speakers in the headlights and beyond pump out a fake V-8 roar, giving it that AMG soul. The AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system, with torque-vectoring and a front motor disconnect for rear-wheel efficiency, delivers grip and nimbleness. This isn’t a soulless EV—it’s a thrill machine, as AMG CEO Michael Schiebe calls it, “a new dimension of performance.”

The GT XX is a concept, but it’s a close look at the 2026 AMG GT 4-Door. Not everything—like those fancy aero wheels—will hit production, as their weight could be a snag. Still, the axial-flux motors and lightning-fast charging will ripple into future AMGs, setting the stage for a wild ride.
