Honor Robot Phone Reveal
Honor finished their presentation earlier today with a surprise. A video played and a device opened and looked around like it had a mind of its own. This is the Robot Phone, still in the early stages and meant to change the way we interact with our devices.

From the outside, it looks like a normal phone. It’s a bit thicker because of what’s inside. An alpha symbol on the back is a nod to Honor’s bigger plans for the company. The camera area on the back is divided into sections that suggest movement. Press a button, and part of it opens. A slim arm extends with the main camera on a setup that tilts and turns. That arm is mostly tucked away when not in use, as folded up, it’s just a smooth surface and a few lenses. But once out, the camera faces forward for self portraits using the better sensor from the back instead of the weaker front one.

The arm does more than just flip around. It stabilizes during recordings cutting down on shaky movements more so than the inside of most phone lenses. You can set it to follow a person or thing as they move, turning the phone into an action camera for adventures. Stick it in your pocket, and the camera peeks out to capture the view without you lifting a finger. One scene in the video points the lens at the night sky. The arm adjusts on its own, keeping pace with the stars as they cross the sky. Another one has it scanning a room while the phone is flat on a table, twisting to get angles that would be out of reach otherwise.

Some parts of the Robot Phone borrow shapes from things you already know, like that alpha mark on the back. It’s the badge found on Sony’s standalone cameras that pros carry for low light and fast focus shots. Even the startup text in the video says “?Phone” before switching to something new, a nod to where phones are today. Honor combines them all into one, folding a pro level camera into a device that fits in your everyday carry. Battery drain from all this motion is a mystery. Constant turns and tilts will drain power while the extra bulk adds weight. Durability is a question mark – how does the arm hold up to drops or daily wear and tear in a bag? Whatever the case may be, Honor calls it a companion that grows with you, sensing moods and shifting to fit.

Honor promotes this as a new form of device, one that goes beyond screens and becomes mobile. The video concludes with the arm drawing back in and the phone returning to silence. More information will be presented at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona.
