An East Coast-based grocery store chain has finally given us a pretty clear look at Yoshi from the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy movie. Tops Friendly Markets recently posted some pictures of Pillsbury Ready-to-Bake Yoshi Egg Sugar Cookie Dough, – a 9.1 oz package of pre-cut, egg-shaped treats stuck to a film. Yoshi’s face is front and center on the front of the packaging, looking as expressive as you’d see in any Illumination film.
The background behind Yoshi is a starry one, with Mario hovering nearby in a striking position, one arm stretched out like he’s in mid-flight, his red cap and overalls really standing out against the backdrop of stars. The egg cookie right next to Yoshi’s is a pretty sweet touch – it’s white with green speckles to match his colors.

But what really catches the eye are the eyes – big & white with thin black outlines that give him a much more alert look than his earlier Wii-day appearances had. The pupils are just two black dots with white highlights, no shading at all. Some folks have pointed out how his expression is ever so slightly tilted, as if he’s asking a question. And just enough puff in his cheeks to soften the whole look. This version of Yoshi seems to be a mix of previous film cameos with Galaxy’s wacky energy.
If you flip the package over the scene just opens up to a full on intergalactic playground. Mario & Yoshi – now riding as one – are zooming across a galaxy map, planets scattered all over the place : rocky orbs, icy spheres, green worlds – all linked up by little starry lines like a good old connect the dots puzzle. You can see Rosalina’s Comet observatory off in the distance, its tiered domes & launch platforms unmistakable from the original games.
In the corner you can spot Bowser Jr.’s graffiti tag – his spiky “Jr.” insignia in all his trademark yellow and green, giving the impression that Junior’s already been getting into trouble with his dad. The observatory itself is a real treat – its blue & white architecture looks stunning, with comets trailing behind it. Every single thing there screams Super Mario Galaxy – from the Power Star vibes to the interplanetary flying.

It looks suspiciously like a repeat of the July Old Spice deodorant promotion – which also featured a Yoshi design that looked far too familiar – the look of it is that these designs have just been bouncing about in storage for months & months. Nintendo & Universal have been pretty quiet on the film since the trailer dropped during the September 2025 Nintendo Direct, with Shigeru Miyamoto saying in a recent interview that it’s nearly finished. All this and more suggest that the marketing machine is about to really kick into gear – perhaps we’ll get a teaser before Wicked: For Good hits the cinemas on November 21.

Yoshi’s been gone for too long, especially since we last saw him walking through Brooklyn at the end of the last movie. That pretty much sets up the whole thing; we know he’s going to be with Mario in space. He’ll chomp bad guys, lay eggs to use as platforms and jump across gravity defying levels. The box also captures the Mario and Yoshi relationship, they’re connected even in space.
Little things like the box having ItsGalaxyTime.com printed on it suggest an official website is coming soon – maybe even now. And based on what we can see the voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario and Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, are all in. Then there’s Bowser Jr. who’s probably plotting something with Jack Black’s dad. Every time you look at that box you can’t help but get sucked into the galaxy they’ve created for us.
