Remember digital artist Finn’s Super Mario RPG remake from last week? Well, there are a few new screenshots available, but unfortunately, still no release date since Finn says that it won’t be playable due to legal reasons. Should Finn eventually work something out with Nintendo, a playable demo could become a reality in the near future.
As you can see in these new screenshots, the textures, models and lighting have all been updated, in addition to the revamped battle / encounter system. Even with that said, Super Mario RPG was still far ahead of its time when initially released back in 1996 on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Its 3D-rendered graphics were the inspiration for Nintendo’s other role-playing series, Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi, both of which also retain some gameplay elements.
- Vivid 7” OLED screen
- Local co-op, online, and local wireless multiplayer
- 64 GB internal storage (a portion of which is reserved for use by the system)
