Adam Savage is known for creating some bizarre gadgets in his Tested one-day build series, and this latest project will definitely make you look twice. No, it’s not a futuristic hat, but rather a functional head-mounted Nerf dart blaster. Put simply, it consists of two revolving magazines with a green-dot laser for aiming. Should you need to warn someone, a siren up top is there for the job.
To fire the darts, Adam uses a custom handheld trigger, complete with a flip-up safety cover. When the magazines are emptied, a total of 54 darts have been fired. On a related note, did you know that Parker Brothers originally developed Nerf, which was basically a 4-inch (100 mm) polyurethane foam ball. In 1970, the Nerf ball was introduced as the “world’s first official indoor ball” and the name “Nerf” came from the slang term for the foam padding used in off-roading.
