Hybrid Air Vehicles’ AirLander 10, nicknamed “the flying bum,” could be ready to transport passengers between cities by 2025 at 10% of the emissions of a standard aircraft. The cabin experience will be similar to that of traditional planes today, but much more spacious as well as quiet, complete with floor-to-ceiling windows for sweeping views of the landscape below. Other features include high-speed WiFi, full-sized restrooms, a galley, and even a bar. Read more for two videos and additional information.
The biggest caveat is that traveling aboard the AirLander 10 will be slower than by traditional aircraft, as a 3-hour route takes slightly over 4-hours to arrive. Fortunately, AirLander 10 doesn’t rely on airport terminals or traditional infrastructure, so you can cut that wait out of your trip time. That’s right, it takes off and lands on any open and level space using its own terminals, even from remote areas. At 320-feet-long, it’s the world’s largest aircraft, capable of withstanding all kinds of weather, including ice and lightning.
