The last thing you’d want is to be stuck in a security line when you’re running late for a flight, and designers Charles Bombardier and Ashish Thulkar have an interesting solution. Called the Aerochk, this airport escalator is also a security checkpoint. Simply place your passport before getting on and you’ll be run through an X-ray machine while riding, along with your carry-on luggage. Yes, your carry-on luggage, backpacks, etc. can also be scanned alongside your body, thanks to a host of sensors, cameras, X-Ray, thermal imaging, and even spectrometer scanning. These systems all work together to ensure safe passage of both yourself and your luggage, streamlining a process that could take upwards of 30+ minutes. After the scan, just collect your luggage, validated passport, flight ticket, and you’ll be ready to board.
