The new iPhones may lack headphones jacks, but with Apple AirPods, they may soon be a distant memory. These wireless headphones boast an integrated Apple W1 chip to enable one-step connection with all your devices, while infrared sensors detect when they’re in your ear. Voice accelerometers are also built-in to work in tandem with the stem-mounted microphones to reduce background noise when you’re on a call. On a single charge, you can expect 5-hours of continuous playback, and up to 24 when used with the included compact wireless charging case. “Apple EarPods are the most popular headphones in the world. Now we’re moving them to Lightning. Why? Because it provides digital audio, power, and many other advantages that are simply not possible over an analogue connection. The analogue headphone jack has been with us for a very long time. But the reason to move on is courage. The courage to move on and do something new that betters all of us,” said Phil Schiller, senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Apple during the iPhone event.
