Apple’s VR headset has been rumored to use Force Touch gloves, and now, it may even be compatible with wearable rings, according to this recently uncovered patent. These rings would be able to detect skin-to-skin contact between two hands or fingers for input in virtual reality or augmented reality environments.

What does skin-to-skin contact mean? This would include moving objects like a cursor, scrolling or panning, adjusting control / system settings, opening files, viewing menus, making a selection, carrying out instructions, operating a peripheral device connected to the host device, etc. The electrodes for detecting this skin-to-skin contact would be embedded within the band itself or in discrete patches on the ring.
