Called Cezeri, the prototype for Turkey’s first flying car, successfully completed a test flight on Tuesday, soaring up to 33-feet before landing. Its name comes from Ismail al-Jazari, a 12th Century polymath known for the invention of the flushing toilet, and this vehicle-aircraft is expected to reach 1.2 miles in air-height, while topping out at a speed of 62 miles per hour.
The company behind Cezeri, Baykar Defense, says it may take up to 15 years to see Turkey’s first flying car in the skies. On the bright side, we could see them in 3-4 years in recreational scenarios, like out in the desert or extreme sports.

We will make more advanced prototypes in the upcoming process, and perform flights with a human [on board]. After smart cars, the revolution in automotive technology will be in flying cars. So from this point of view, we are preparing for tomorrow’s races, rather than today’s,” said Selcuk Bayraktar, Baykar’s chief technology officer.
