David Blaine Balloon Stunt Arizona

Illusionist David Blaine completed his latest stunt on Wednesday by ascending nearly 25,000 feet over the Arizona desert while hanging from fifty-two massive helium balloons before parachuting safely back to the ground. This was actually an episode of his “Ascension” YouTube Originals series, and it gathered an audience of 770,000 live viewers.

Blaine was originally scheduled to perform this stunt on August 31 over New York, but logistical reasons and weather caused him to move it to Page, Arizona. This wasn’t a spur of the moment idea either, as Blaine and his team required FAA approval for the balloon rig before even taking off the ground. He then had to become a certified hot-air balloon operator and an expert at skydiving.
