Just when you thought deepfakes couldn’t get any creepier (or cooler), new videos have popped up transforming comedian / actor Bill Hader into Al Pacino and Arnold Schwarzenegger. For those who don’t know what a deepfake is, this basically refers to a technique for human image synthesis based on artificial intelligence. It’s used to combine and superimpose existing images and videos onto source images or videos using a machine learning technique called a “generative adversarial network” (GAN).
The film, created by a deepfake maker named Ctrl Shift Face, has already received over 300,000 views on YouTube alone. In a 2014 interview with late-night talk show host Conan O’Brien, Hader gives his best impression of the former California governor.
