8KRAW, a China-based photography organization with over 1,000 photographers, used a DJI Mavic 3 to fly over Mount Everest at 29,000+ feet with its professional-grade 4/3 CMOS Hasselblad camera. Once the team summited, the drone completed several aerial shots including close-up shots and views of the Himalayas with Mount Everest in the foreground.
The DJI Mavic 3 is touted as the first drone with a flight time of up to 46-minutes and maximum video transmission of approximately 9-miles. Plus, its omnidirectional sensing system enhances the Mavic 3’s ability to avoid obstacles. In all, it took 8KRAW nearly 3-months to complete ‘Flying Over Everest’, which was jointly produced by DJI. Just imagine if someone decides to build a cliff-hanging ‘Mountain House’ at Everest.

8KRAW continues to pursue the ultimate image. As early as three years ago, we began to try aerial photography of Mount Everest. It was the team’s long-cherished wish to fly a drone at the top and complete the leap shooting. The light and reliable Mavic 3 with the ultimate image and the warm weather conditions on the summit day finally came true, and I am very grateful to Mount Everest for accepting us and allowing us to see it from a new perspective,” said Wang Yuanzong, founder of 8KRAW.
