DJI Mic 3 Wireless Microphone System
DJI’s latest audio product, the Mic 3, claims to deliver pro-grade sound in a package so small it’ll fit in your pocket and go unnoticed. This wireless microphone system builds on the legacy of its predecessors while forging its own identity.

Each Mic 3 transmitter weighs 16 grams and feels almost weightless compared to the 28 gram Mic 2. It’s closer to the 10 gram Mic Mini but don’t be fooled by its size. The transmitter’s rotating clip and magnetic attachment are genius and allow you to attach it to a shirt or cap. Windscreens come in five colors including black, gray and three more to match your style so the microphone blends in with any environment. The Mic 3 doesn’t have a 3.5mm lavalier input like the Mic 2, instead it only has the built-in microphone. This may raise an eyebrow among professionals who prefer external microphones but the internal audio quality is good enough for most applications.

  • High-Quality Audio - Capture true-to-life sound with 48kHz sampling. Speak with confidence, you're captured crystal clear.

The receiver is a sleek unit with a squircle-shaped color display and feels like a natural evolution from the Mic 2. The rotary dial and touchscreen interface makes it easy to navigate settings whether you’re on a busy film set or in a quiet studio. Speaking of battery, the transmitter lasts 8 hours, the receiver 10 hours and the charging case gives you 2.4 full charges or 28 hours total use. A 5 minute quick charge gives you 2 hours of use, a lifesaver for creators on a tight schedule. The case itself is a nice upgrade, it can store two transmitters and a receiver without having to remove windscreens or clips, making setup and teardown a breeze.

The Mic 3 performs well on audio, with support for up to 4 transmitters and 8 receivers at the same time, perfect for complex shoots like group interviews or multi-camera productions. 400 meters (a quarter of a mile) range and the technology will auto-switch between 2.4GHz and 5GHz to avoid interference. Two adaptive gain control modes: Automatic mode reduces volume spikes in loud environments like concerts, Dynamic mode maintains levels in quiet environments like podcast studios. Three voice tone presets—Regular, Rich and Bright—allow you to adjust the sound to different speakers and improve clarity for different vocal types. Two-level noise reduction reduces background hums like aircon and wind.

Internal recording capabilities set the Mic 3 apart from the competition as each transmitter has 32GB of storage, a big jump from the Mic 2’s 8GB, so you can record up to 14 hours of audio in 24-bit or 32-bit floating point formats. Dual file recording records a raw track and an algorithm enhanced version so you have more flexibility in post. High precision timecode support is a game changer for pros as it embeds data to sync audio and video and will keep everything in frame accurate alignment for 24 hours. Quadraphonic mode on Sony cameras allows you to record 4 separate audio tracks to one device, simplifying complex workflows.

Integration with the DJI ecosystem is another big plus as the Mic 3 connects directly to devices like the Osmo 360, Osmo Action 5 Pro, and Osmo Pocket 3 via the OsmoAudio system, so you don’t need a receiver in some cases. Non-DJI gear has robust connection, including 3.5mm TRS output, 3.5mm TRRS monitoring port, USB-C and Bluetooth for smartphone pairing. The DJI Mimo app makes it all more user friendly and powerful with firmware upgrades, real time monitoring and parameter adjustments.

A bundle with 2 transmitters, 1 receiver and a charging case is $309 in the US, a single transmitter and receiver kit is $199. Individual components like extra transmitters or colorful windscreens can be purchased separately so you can add to your setup over time. Availability in the US starts today, which is a relief given DJI’s previous supply chain issues due to regulatory scrutiny. Third party stores like B&H and Walmart will also carry units so you should be able to find one despite the market uncertainty.
