Jane Dodd renewed her driver’s license online, but what she received was completely unexpected. The digital renewal was to solely avoid a trip to the DMV, which can be a tedious process to say the least, but in the end, she received something worthy of an internet meme. How so? On her new license, a photo of an empty chair replaced the one that should have shown her face. Read more for the news segment and additional information.
The DMV responded by saying this error occurred when the customer visited the Driver Services Center a few years ago, which during the transaction, an examiner mistakenly captured an empty chair, assigning it to the customer’s profile. When Jane Dodd recently renewed her driver license online, she received an image of a chair because that was the last picture taken on file. Fortunately, a license with her actual photo has already been sent out to her.

My boss thinks it’s funnier than anyone. I was at work Friday and he pointed to a chair outside of his office door and was like, ‘I thought this was you, I waved at it this morning’ and I was like thanks. People have been sending me memes that they made and telling me happy late birthday. It’s been weird,” said Dodd.
