Elon Musk introduced xAI’s Grok-3 generative artificial intelligence chatbot, and its benchmarks are looking quite impressive to say the least. It’s 10-times more capable than Grok-2, which means it can not only reason and perform in-depth research, but also handle creative tasks as well, like making video games.
The demo saw Grok-3 solving a physics problem, or more specifically, plotting a viable trajectory for a transfer from Earth to Mars and, later, a transfer back to Earth. There’s also a new ‘Big Brain’ function, which helps users make things like a game that combines elements Tetris and Bejeweled. Last, but not least, DeepSearch enables Grok to perform in-depth research on whatever the user requests.Premium+ subscribers can try out Grok-3 today, while anyone can try out Grok-2 for free, even without registration.

The term [Grok] comes from Robert Heinlein’s novel Stranger in a Strange Land. It’s used by a character raised on Mars and means to fully and profoundly understand something. The word ‘grok’ conveys deep understanding, and empathy is an important part of that,” said Musk.
