Engineered Arts’ AI-powered Ameca humanoid robot recently got a Stable Diffusion upgrade and a cat drawing promptly ensued, complete with a signature. Stable Diffusion is essentially a deep learning, text-to-image model that can run on most consumer hardware equipped with a GPU that has at least 8GB of VRAM.
Now one big hurdle that Ameca had to overcome even with Stable Diffusion is converting the image to vectors (lines) that can then be drawn. Sure, the cat drawing may look quite basic, but with Stable Diffusion, existing images can be re-drawn by the model to incorporate new elements described by a text prompt. This means that Ameca has plenty more chances to improve upon the drawing, but Engineered Arts also announced that she is taking requests and they’ll even film a video of the process.
