Epic Games RealityScan App Smartphone
Always wished you could turn smartphone photos into high-fidelity 3D models? Well, now there’s an app for that. Epic Games RealityScan app is in limited beta right now and essentially photogrammetric software capable of reconstructing objects and scenes of any size, yielding 3D scans with amazing accuracy as well as mesh quality at speeds many times faster than the competition. Read more for a video demonstration and additional information.

You won’t need a hefty instruction manual to use it either, since the app walks users through the scanning process with interactive feedback, AR guidance, and data quality-checks. Once you finish scanning, complete, RealityScan automatically generates a realistic model near instantly, thanks to its photogrammetry software. When that is completed, users will be able to seamlessly upload their finished assets to Sketchfab, which is basically a platform for publishing, sharing, and selling 3D / VR / AR content. Who knows? Some of these assets may even end up in the NFT universe sooner than later. The app is being beta tested with 10,000 users right now and Early Access for iOS is expected to begin this Spring.
